Stop Animation Video
When we were introduced this project some weeks ago, I was thrilled to take on the task of creating something fun and educational for a group of fourth graders across the country. The topics were fairly easy to comprehend although it has been some years since I have learned about the material. As a group, we chose to create a video for electrically charged objects, which includes protons, electrons, and neutrons. The first idea that came to my mind was the concept of creating a love story between a proton and electron character, since they are naturally "attracted" to one another. This class project was different from any of the others we have done this semester because it was geared towards a specific fourth grade class. What made it so special to me was that I was able to put real faces to the class that we were creating this video for. This project had a special place in my heart because we could potentially make a difference in the way these children learn. The most important aspect of the project would have to be the creation of the story line and plot. This is what makes the video work and run smoothly. We spent the majority of the time making sure the story had a beginning, middle, and end so that the fourth graders could easily follow along with the story, yet still understand the concept that we were trying to present to them. The whole project revolved around them, so we wanted to make sure they would be able to enjoy the video and grasp the educational portion of it as well. I hope that this video helps the children learn how electrically charged objects are related and hopefully apply it to their studies in the future. From our standpoint, the project required us to allow our creative juices flow yet have a ton of fun with it too. If future classes were to take on this responsibility in the future, I believe they would have a great time creating something that could stick around for a long time. The best outcome of this project is having it impact a child's way of learning and, hopefully, helping out other students in the future.
